Identifying Water Line Problems

The main water line from the water meter to the house is called the water service. The water service is buried at least 12″ below ground to be below the frost line. When a water service leaks or fails, it can show up as a muddy, wet area in your yard or water bubbling up from a crack in the driveway or in the water meter box. In some cases it can just show up as a high water bill from EBMUD.

The great news is that in some cases we can pull a new plastic line through an old pipe or bore a pipe through a yard without digging up the whole thing. This option is not available in all cases.
