Some models are completely weatherproof and can be mounted directly on the exterior of the home, which can free up space in an interior closet, kitchen, or laundry room. Because they do not store hot water and heat water only as you use it, the hot water supply will never run out. You could literally get in the shower on Tuesday and not get out until Friday and you would still have hot water. The flip side to this, when you are not running hot water, you are not spending anything on keeping a 50-gallon tank hot, so this is where some of the savings come in.
